Debates

This sample of speech was taken from the Presidential Debate. We all know that Neither Hillary nor Trump are very good at debating. Both of them seemed to stray away from answering the questions or blaming the other one. Hillary did a good job at this. Instead of answering the question, she directed all the attention to Trumps tax returns. She was good and avoiding talking about the things that had been leaked during the WikiLeaks incident. This being said, she did absolutely terrible at answering the question which really didn’t help her case or win any support. At least she didn’t through a temper tantrum in the middle of the debates like her adversary Trump did. She had that going for her. It wasn’t her best debating topic but it the WikiLeaks question was one of her finer moments in debating against Trump.

I think in order to through Trump on his heels, Clinton should have diverted most of her jabs at Trump, through his racial, sexual orientation, or gender remarks. The more he down played these groups of people the more supports Hillary seemed to gain. This would have been a pivotal point in the campaign. Instead Hillary was unable to defend against Trumps accusations and all around didn’t hold her own on the debates the way a weathered politician like herself should have. As you can see in this sample of the debate, Trump was able to come back with a decent rebuttal and shut down what Hillary was trying to set up and expose Trump with. (Tax returns) He did a good job with the MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) method of “I’ll release mine when you release yours” for lack of better words. This could have worked for her advantage if she had brought up his tactics and suggested that this was how he was planning to run the country. No one wants a leader that still acts like a child and point’s fingers, Hillary should have had the maturity to call Trump out on this and expressed a better image for herself by not getting into the mud with Trump. In these debates she stooped to his level which ultimately killed her since we were all expecting another formal, robotic performance from her like all the other speeches she’s given.

Again by trying to compete at a low level with jabs and low blows, Hillary missed the concept of appearing mature and collected against Trump, which are attributes, I’m sure we all look for in a leader. But that’s just a negative outlook, pushing Trump around the stage and getting under his skin seemed to be a specialty of hers, since she was able to evoke a good amount of emotion out of the man. Even though he’s already pretty emotional I think she did a good job or provoking Trump during these debates. Her ability to answer questions needed some help but all around she didn’t do quite as terrible as I Thought she would.

Concession Speech Analysis

Hillary Clinton's Concession Speech was filled with a ton of emotion. It was definitely one of her better speeches. She looked good. This was a concession speech, she was conceding in the presidential race to Donald Trump. She did a good job explaining that we as a nation have to accept and support our new president. She reiterated that it is important to stay connected and humble as a nation in order to accept this new national leader.
In her ability to speak and present she, like all politicians, did well. This is what she had been groomed for. Her eye contact, voice fluctuations and even her facial expressions seemed to be in order and work well with her speech. A few things she should work on is her body language. She still seems stiff and “robotic” like most of the anti-Hillary supporters like to point out. She needs to be more fluid and maybe ad some hand gestures and other expressions that seem to present her as rehearsed act, than someone really speaking from the heart like she should be during this speech. I mean she lost but still seems to present little emotion.
Throughout her speech she seemed to try and keep an optimistic point of view when looking to the future. She did an excellent job including as many, groups of people (LGBT, minority groups, income class) in her speech in order to hit home with as many people, not just her own followers, but everyone. She really tried to pull everyone together in order to push us as a nation into the future of becoming a better country.
It was also nice that she thanked all the people that helped her during this campaign, it’s true that she could not have done it all on her own, but it was just comforting for her to share that her family really helped her out during her times of need. It helped her sense of appeal for me at least and that kind of helped her seem as if she did have emotions, she just did well at hiding them.

I personally think she should have spoken more about her Trump and how we should all come to accept that he is our new president. She did touch on this subject a little during her speech, but I feel as if she should have stayed on this topic longer and really elaborate on what it us “accepting” Trump should look like or at least give her own personal stake of how she plans to start supporting Trump. Maybe explain how she plans to even back him up or figure how she can help ease his transition into the White House or even how she can help after he has settled in. This would have been a show of real character, to accept the loss and move forward positively and help her opponent. This would have hit home more with her followers who in turn could have turned around and started to show some support and optimism instead of starting protests and anti-Trump campaigns.

Political Campaign Blog 2

Although Hilary Clinton did not win the 2016 presidential election, the way in which she campaigned was quite interesting considering the hoops she had to jump through as the campaign was going on. Her campaign had plenty of ups a downs, whether it was being caught up in scandals about her emails or even the severity of her health, there were many challenging aspects to her run for president. Her strengths during the process was definitely connecting to the younger generations through her many commercials as well as community services and reach out moments. This made it easier for her to connect to millennials, which was who she was really aiming for, so I think she did a great job meeting these goals. As an uninformed individual, I was able to get a decent understanding of why she was running and what she was planning to do by observing some of her website and commercial which was much better than her opponent, Donald Trump. One of her main threats was social media. Where her presence was nonexistent, her opponent thrived. Twitter was a huge asset to Donald Trump as he ran. It’s how he was able to speak his mind literally at a moment’s notice to his followers. He was able to spread word of his intentions and thoughts instantly which really helped people stay up to date on what he was accomplishing. Hillary’s main weakness, was her public image. She was said to be severely ill, and unfit to run. This was bad publicity and a few bad coughs here and there. As well as her “robot” like facial impressions during the debates, which came off as yet another bad image in the media’s eye, resulting in them stating that she is too formal and that she is emotionless.
I feel as if Hillary’s main goal, should she have been elected, was to continue on the path that Obama had set the country on. She was already basically being endorsed by the former president, but having him state that he supported her really helped her ratings go up. Reaching back to what she was promising, was to keep Obamacare going as well as make things easier for the middle class average American household.

The team she had for her campaign accomplished a lot for what they were working with. I feel as if a lot of the workload was put on her media advisor. This person would be responsible for keeping her public image positive as well as running all of commercials and media platforms. Although they did a good job I feel as if more could have been done to combat Trump on the social media platforms. Hillary wasn’t on social media enough to really gain more of the younger audience she was looking for. This might have impacted a good amount of her vote since most of the millennials she was hoping to appeal to can be found on certain types of social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Using these platforms would have helped connect with this voter base and could have helped in the long run to becoming president.

Hillary Clinton was born October 26, 1947. She grew up in a suburb of Chicago called Park Ridge, in a middle class family. She later graduated from Wellesley College in 1969. Later she enrolled in Yale Law School where she met her soon to be husband, Bill Clinton. Bill later to be the Governor of Arkansas and then the president of the United States in both the 1992 and 1996 terms. Hillary Clinton later became the First women to become the Senator of New York. This is important to k now about her because it shows that she has experience with politics and has a background with an affiliation of presidential campaigns seeing as she was the First Lady for two terms. Hillary also ran for president for the first time in 2008. This was probably her best advantage over everyone else. The expirence of being around politics for as long as she was would help her in debates and campaigning.

Hillary had a decent public image. Because she’s a woman, she had a more family, care-giving orientation than other candidates. She was also endorsed by Former President Barack Obama. This gave her yet another edge over her competition because she was being supported by someone with one of the highest appeal ratings of any president. I feel like she wanted to be perceived as a people person, or someone that everyone could relate to. Coming from the middle class, she is able to appeal to a broader section of people than say her opponent, Donald Trump. She stayed constant with the amount of ads she put in the media as well as televised commercials in order to reach as many people as possible. A good amount of her commercials was also bashing her opponents which didn’t really help her come off as the innocent, or “good” person she was trying so hard to be. Her image was skewered when she went after other people.
I feel as if e deciding factor in a lot of people’s votes against Hillary was that she was “Crooked Hillary” or that she couldn’t be trusted. Yes, she did have the email scandal, yes she did have the Benghazi incident, but if she had focused more on the good that she had done, or things that she had tried to right those wrongs she would have been better off. Instead of shifting the focus of these two problems, she should have attacked both of these incidents. Admitting what she did was wrong, since there’s no taking it back, and then moving forward with how she plans to fix it would have shifted a good amount of people back to her side. She did a good job with appealing to the average family with her campaign. Her commercials revolved around kids and middle class families. This would be her best focal point. The average citizen and small families take up a majority of the population, which would be a majority of the vote. Targeting this audience was a good ploy on her part in order to get a stake in.
