Debates

This sample of speech was taken from the Presidential Debate. We all know that Neither Hillary nor Trump are very good at debating. Both of them seemed to stray away from answering the questions or blaming the other one. Hillary did a good job at this. Instead of answering the question, she directed all the attention to Trumps tax returns. She was good and avoiding talking about the things that had been leaked during the WikiLeaks incident. This being said, she did absolutely terrible at answering the question which really didn’t help her case or win any support. At least she didn’t through a temper tantrum in the middle of the debates like her adversary Trump did. She had that going for her. It wasn’t her best debating topic but it the WikiLeaks question was one of her finer moments in debating against Trump.

I think in order to through Trump on his heels, Clinton should have diverted most of her jabs at Trump, through his racial, sexual orientation, or gender remarks. The more he down played these groups of people the more supports Hillary seemed to gain. This would have been a pivotal point in the campaign. Instead Hillary was unable to defend against Trumps accusations and all around didn’t hold her own on the debates the way a weathered politician like herself should have. As you can see in this sample of the debate, Trump was able to come back with a decent rebuttal and shut down what Hillary was trying to set up and expose Trump with. (Tax returns) He did a good job with the MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) method of “I’ll release mine when you release yours” for lack of better words. This could have worked for her advantage if she had brought up his tactics and suggested that this was how he was planning to run the country. No one wants a leader that still acts like a child and point’s fingers, Hillary should have had the maturity to call Trump out on this and expressed a better image for herself by not getting into the mud with Trump. In these debates she stooped to his level which ultimately killed her since we were all expecting another formal, robotic performance from her like all the other speeches she’s given.

Again by trying to compete at a low level with jabs and low blows, Hillary missed the concept of appearing mature and collected against Trump, which are attributes, I’m sure we all look for in a leader. But that’s just a negative outlook, pushing Trump around the stage and getting under his skin seemed to be a specialty of hers, since she was able to evoke a good amount of emotion out of the man. Even though he’s already pretty emotional I think she did a good job or provoking Trump during these debates. Her ability to answer questions needed some help but all around she didn’t do quite as terrible as I Thought she would.
